When police in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh determined there was nothing to support accusations that 10 Christians had tried to bribe a Hindu into conversion, the Christians were then accused of insulting Hinduism. The Indian Express reported that police arrested the Christians — five men and five women — in the village of Borgaon-Bujurg, booking them under a law that forbids “deliberate and malicious act[s] intended to hurt religious feelings.” The Express quoted a Christian resident of Borgaon as saying that “right-wing activists” threw stones at the Christian home and tried to demolish a wall.
