A new report released last week by the Norwegian Refugee Council and the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre shows that Nigeria now has the largest internally displaced population in Africa.

It also says there are about 3.3 million displaced people in Nigeria, due to hundreds of thousands of people fleeing Boko Haram insurgents, making it the third-largest displaced population in the world after Syria and Colombia.

“The situation is quite pathetic. And it’s like the Nigerian government is not willing to act. People are being killed like chickens,” said Abba Abdulmumini, a Kala Balge community leader in Nigeria.
