More than 7,000 UN peacekeeping troops are expected to arrive in the Central African Republic on Sept. 15, according to the UN’s envoy to CAR. The Associated Press quotes Babacar Gaye as saying the soldiers will represent nearly two-thirds of the 12,000 troops authorized by the UN in April to thwart the deadly violence that has gripped the country since early 2013. The complete force is expected to be in place early next year, AP cited British deputy ambassador Peter Wilson as saying.
